Public Health Advisory: Measles Transmission and Vaccination
Mecklenburg County Public Health and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) have issued a high-priority advisory following a rise in measles cases within the Charlotte Metropolitan area. Health officials are currently tracking community transmission and urge all residents to ensure their vaccinations are current. Clinicians and parents are advised to consider early MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccination for infants aged 6 to 11 months who live in or travel through Mecklenburg and surrounding counties.
Residents who may have been exposed at local retail locations are encouraged to monitor for symptoms and contact their healthcare provider immediately before visiting a clinic in person to prevent further spread.
