Charlotte casting opens again for reality marriage experiment

Producers of the reality series “Married at First Sight” have reopened casting for singles in the Charlotte area, positioning the city as a returning setting for a future season. The show’s format pairs participants through a vetting and matching process, then has couples legally marry at their first in-person meeting before filming their early months as newlyweds.

The current casting outreach includes an extensive written application with more than 70 questions. The application requests personal information, dating preferences, photos and references, reflecting a process designed to screen candidates beyond basic eligibility.

Timeline and availability requirements

Applicants who advance would need to commit to a defined production schedule in late summer and early fall of 2026. The casting materials indicate that selected participants must be able to take two weeks off work from August 17 through August 30, 2026, and remain available during an approximately nine-week production window spanning August through October 2026.

The materials also list an active passport as a requirement, signaling that travel outside the United States may be part of the production schedule. Additional baseline criteria include being single and at least 21 years old.

Charlotte’s prior role in the franchise

Charlotte has previously served as a “Married at First Sight” location. The show’s ninth season featured Charlotte-area couples and premiered in 2019, making the city one of the franchise’s earlier stops outside its initial markets.

With the casting call returning, Charlotte joins a short list of U.S. cities being scouted at the same time, including Detroit, Las Vegas, St. Louis and Washington, D.C., suggesting a multi-market approach for upcoming installments.

Where the series is currently distributed

The franchise has undergone a recent distribution shift in the U.S. The Austin-based season marketed as Season 19 premiered exclusively on Peacock on October 23, 2025, after the show spent years airing on Lifetime.

What applicants should expect in the process

The application materials preview a deeply personal questionnaire, including topics such as relationship history, family background and preferences around compatibility factors. Prospective participants are asked to demonstrate not only interest in marriage, but also readiness for a legally binding relationship formed under intense production conditions.

  • Eligibility includes being at least 21 and single, with no ongoing divorce proceedings.
  • Applicants must hold an active passport.
  • Filming availability is required from mid-August through October 2026, including a two-week work absence.

Participants meet their spouse for the first time at the wedding ceremony, then live as a married couple while cameras document the relationship’s early stages.

No premiere date has been announced for a Charlotte-based season tied to the current casting cycle.
