This drop-in engagement session provides a direct opportunity for community members to speak with Board of County Commissioners representatives in an informal setting. The event will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Not Just Coffee, located at 1026 Jay St., Charlotte, NC 28208. There is no formal agenda or presentation planned, as the session is intended to facilitate open dialogue regarding local issues and resident concerns.
Public Health Alert: Measles Exposure Update
Mecklenburg County Public Health has issued updated exposure notices following a confirmed case of measles linked to a neighboring jurisdiction. While there is no immediate threat to the general public at these locations now, health officials are asking individuals who visited the following sites during the specified windows to monitor for symptoms:
- Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center (1000 Blythe Blvd.): Feb. 3 from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and Feb. 4 from 7:00 p.m. to midnight.
- Chipotle (239 S. Kings Drive): Feb. 3 from 9:50 p.m. to 11:50 p.m.
- Goodwill (5808 University Point Blvd.): Feb. 4 from noon to 3:45 p.m.
- Goodwill (3710 W. W.T. Harris Blvd.): Feb. 4 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:40 p.m.
Symptoms of measles include high fever, cough, runny nose, and a distinct red rash. Residents who suspect they may have been exposed and are developing symptoms are urged to contact their healthcare provider by phone before arriving in person to prevent further spread of the virus.
Transit and Infrastructure Updates
The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) has announced the cancellation of the Public Transit Advisory Committee (PTAC) meeting originally scheduled for today, February 12, 2026. Furthermore, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) recently released an audit report identifying 18 safety and protocol areas requiring corrective action by CATS. These findings relate to risk assessment, staff training, and safety performance targets.
Regarding roadwork, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has issued a notice for south Charlotte residents. Rodney Street, between Westinghouse Boulevard and Royshall Lane, is scheduled for a long-term closure beginning Monday, February 16, to facilitate water line installations and pavement reclamation as part of the I-485 toll lane project. Drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes through Downs Road and N.C. 51.
