Princess Anderson powers Charlotte past Memphis to complete season sweep and strengthen AAC standing

Charlotte closes regular-season series with road win
Charlotte women’s basketball completed a season sweep of Memphis on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, with a 61-58 road victory that extended the 49ers’ momentum heading into the final stretch of American Athletic Conference play. The result followed Charlotte’s earlier home win over Memphis on Dec. 31, 2025, when the 49ers opened conference play with a 62-49 victory at Halton Arena.
Princess Anderson again served as Charlotte’s focal point in the rematch, continuing a stretch in which she has been central to the team’s half-court scoring and late-game execution. The Feb. 14 win also reinforced a formula that has repeatedly appeared in Charlotte’s conference results: forcing difficult possessions defensively while creating extra opportunities through rebounding.
What defined the earlier meeting: rebounding, paint scoring, and a second-half surge
In the first game between the teams this season, Charlotte used a decisive edge on the glass to control the matchup. On Dec. 31, Charlotte finished with a 55-36 rebounding advantage and outscored Memphis 38-22 in points in the paint. Anderson scored a career-high 28 points in that game on 12-of-24 shooting, providing shot creation as Charlotte pulled away in the fourth quarter to secure a 62-49 win.
Charlotte’s interior production was supported by strong rebounding performances: Ja’Navia Gage collected 16 rebounds, including eight offensive boards, while Asianae Nicholson added 13 rebounds. Even with 15 first-half turnovers and a low first-half shooting mark, Charlotte stayed within one at halftime before separating after the break.
Feb. 14 result keeps Charlotte moving in a crowded conference race
The three-point margin in Memphis underscored how narrow conference games can be late in the season, particularly when tempo slows and possessions become more valuable. For Charlotte, closing out a sweep also matters in the standings context, where head-to-head outcomes can influence positioning as teams cluster around similar league records.

- Dec. 31, 2025: Charlotte 62, Memphis 49 (at Charlotte)
Upcoming schedule
Charlotte returns home for a Feb. 17, 2026 game against Temple, followed by a Feb. 21 home matchup with North Texas. The 49ers then close the month with road games at Florida Atlantic (Feb. 24) and at East Carolina (Feb. 28).
Charlotte’s season series with Memphis ended with two wins in different settings—first driven by rebounding dominance at home, then finished by a one-possession road result in February.
