Public Notice Roundup: Health Advisories and Community Planning Sessions

Public Health Advisory: Measles Exposure Alert

Mecklenburg County Public Health has issued a high-priority advisory following confirmed measles exposures at multiple locations throughout the city. While the initial exposure dates occurred in early February, health officials are maintaining the alert for all residents who may have visited the following locations during the specified windows:

  • Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center: 1000 Blythe Blvd., Feb. 3 (6:30 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.) and Feb. 4 (7:00 p.m. – midnight).
  • Chipotle: 239 S. Kings Drive, Feb. 3 (9:50 p.m. – 11:50 p.m.).
  • Goodwill: 5808 University Point Blvd., Feb. 4 (noon – 3:45 p.m.).
  • Goodwill: 3710 W. W.T. Harris Blvd., Feb. 4 (2:00 p.m. – 4:40 p.m.).

Residents who were present at these locations are urged to monitor for symptoms, including high fever, cough, runny nose, and a red, blotchy rash. Because measles is highly contagious and can remain airborne for up to two hours, officials recommend that anyone experiencing symptoms contact their healthcare provider by phone before arriving in person to prevent further transmission.

Public Meeting: Safety Committee

The City of Charlotte Safety Committee is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center. This committee is tasked with reviewing and recommending policies designed to enhance the safety and security of all residents and visitors. The agenda for today’s session includes updates on community policing initiatives and a review of recent public safety data. These meetings are open to the public and provide a primary venue for oversight of local emergency services and safety protocols.

CATS Fare Study Public Engagement

The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is hosting a series of public meetings today, February 18, to gather community feedback on the ongoing Fare Study. This initiative is part of a broader effort to inform and educate the public regarding potential adjustments to the transit system's fare structure. Community members are encouraged to attend to share their perspectives on accessibility and pricing for bus and rail services. Feedback collected during these sessions will directly influence the final recommendations presented to the City Council later this year.

Regional Transportation and Heritage Notices

Two additional official bodies are convening today to address regional growth and historic preservation. The Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization (CRTPO) Policy Board will hold its monthly meeting to discuss long-term infrastructure projects and transportation funding. Simultaneously, the Historic Landmarks Commission – Survey Committee will meet at 2100 Randolph Road to review potential site designations. Both meetings represent critical steps in managing the Queen City’s rapid expansion while protecting its historical character.
