Public Notice: Transit Workshops, Health Alerts, and Roadway Updates for February 20

Official Public Meetings and Workshops
On Friday, February 20, 2026, the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County will host several key advisory and planning sessions. Residents are encouraged to stay informed on the following scheduled proceedings:
- Metropolitan Public Transportation Authority (MPTA) Workshop: The MPTA will hold a dedicated workshop today, February 20, to discuss transit operations and regional connectivity. This session serves as a precursor to the upcoming ad hoc bylaws committee meeting scheduled for February 24.
- Information Services & Technology Advisory Committee: This committee will convene for a virtual meeting to review municipal IT infrastructure and digital service updates.
- Live Well Meck Community Tour: As part of the ongoing effort to inform the 2026 Community Health Improvement Plan, Public Health officials are currently conducting the Live Well Meck tour. These events are designed to gather resident feedback on local health data and future community needs.
Public Health Advisory: Measles Exposure Notice
Mecklenburg County Public Health has issued an active health advisory following a rise in confirmed measles cases in the Charlotte metropolitan area. Health officials have identified several specific exposure sites from earlier this month, including Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center, the Chipotle on South Kings Drive, and Goodwill locations on University Point Boulevard and West W.T. Harris Boulevard.
While these locations have been cleared and are safe to visit, residents who were present at these sites during the first week of February should monitor for symptoms such as high fever, cough, and a blotchy red rash. Officials strongly urge unvaccinated individuals to seek the MMR vaccine, which is widely available at local pharmacies and Public Health immunization clinics.
Traffic and Infrastructure Updates
Motorists should be aware of significant roadway maintenance and construction activity concluding this week:
- US-74 (Wilkinson Boulevard): Lane closures near I-485 for the municipal broadband infrastructure project are scheduled to conclude in the early hours of Friday, February 20. While the primary construction impact is ending, drivers should remain alert for crews removing remaining safety barriers.
- Roadway Safety Reminder: The Charlotte Department of Transportation (CDOT) reminds all residents to exercise caution in active work zones and to utilize the CLT+ app for real-time updates on neighborhood-level street closures.
Upcoming City Council Proceedings
Looking ahead, the Charlotte City Council is scheduled to hold a high-priority FY 2027 Budget Workshop on Monday, February 23, at 2:00 p.m. This will be followed by a Public Forum and Business Meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber at the Government Center. These meetings are open to the public and will be broadcast live on the Government Channel.
