An in-person preview of a decade-shaping stadium overhaul

Tepper Sports & Entertainment has announced plans to open a public-facing “Bank of America Stadium Experience Center” in Uptown Charlotte, designed to let fans and corporate clients preview premium spaces and planned upgrades tied to the stadium’s long-term redevelopment. The project is scheduled to open later in summer 2026, timed ahead of the 2026 Carolina Panthers season.

The center is planned for 720 S. Church St. in the Legacy Union building under a 48-month lease and is described as a 15,700-square-foot immersive venue. The concept includes a hands-on walkthrough of proposed stadium improvements, with replicated club and suite-style environments, an interactive stadium model, and other multimedia elements intended to demonstrate how renovated seating and hospitality areas could look and function.

How the experience center fits into the broader stadium program

The Uptown center is part of a larger redevelopment of Bank of America Stadium that has been framed as an approximately $800 million renovation program with work staged through 2030. The stadium, which opened in 1996, is planned to remain active during construction, with major work occurring in phases.

The city approved a $650 million public contribution in June 2024, structured around hospitality and tourism tax revenues that are restricted for tourism-related uses under state rules. Tepper Sports & Entertainment committed additional private funding, including a $150 million contribution for work in the initial modernization window and responsibility for cost overruns under the adopted framework. The agreement also includes a non-relocation commitment for the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC through at least 2045.

What visitors are expected to see

  • Replicated premium environments, including suite and club-style seating concepts
  • Interactive displays that outline planned stadium design elements
  • Historical exhibits that position the renovation within the venue’s multi-decade role in Charlotte

The experiential design firm Advent is leading creative direction for the experience center. Lowe’s has been announced as the “Official Stadium Renovation Partner” associated with the initiative.

Related development: a separate indoor performance venue near the stadium

Ahead of the stadium’s major construction phases, Tepper Sports & Entertainment has also advanced plans for a separate indoor performance venue near the stadium’s North Gate. The proposed facility is described as a 4,400-seat, roughly 89,000-square-foot venue intended to host concerts and other events. Public materials presented to city officials previously projected 80 to 100 shows annually, with construction discussed for a 2027 start and an opening around 2030, subject to approvals tied to lease and site arrangements.

Why teams are investing in “preview” spaces

Experience centers have become a common tool for sports organizations undertaking major renovations, particularly where premium seating and hospitality areas are central to financing strategies. By offering a tangible, walk-through display of planned amenities, teams aim to support long-lead sales efforts—especially for suites, clubs, and multi-year ticket commitments—while keeping public attention focused on what is changing and when.

Opening the Uptown center before major stadium phases begin positions Tepper Sports & Entertainment to market the renovation’s premium components while construction planning and sequencing continue.
